Over the past three years at Finlays, I’ve had the privilege of visiting our operations across the globe.
And, as you might expect, wherever I am in the world, I’m always interested in what people around me are drinking. There is much one can learn from observing consumers in a high-growth coffee shop chain in China. Or browsing supermarket shelves in the U.K. Or studying menu boards at the latest Quick Service Restaurant to take the U.S. by storm.
Wherever I am in the world, one thing is always constant: the dynamism of the beverage industry when it comes to meeting consumers’ diverse needs. Whether it’s offering refreshment, functional benefits, or weird and wonderful flavors, truly does any industry on earth bring so many moments of happiness to so many?
In other words – ours is an industry that brings joy to billions of people around the world each and every day. And for me, the concept of joy – in all its different forms – is what defines our industry.
Empowering Customers
And while I am proud to work for a company that plays an important role in facilitating this creation of joy, it’s important that at Finlays, we believe that ours is merely a supporting role. The star of the show, in our eyes, is our customers. The brand owners, foodservice operators, and retailers we partner with to create delicious, sustainable, healthy, and innovative beverage solutions that delight their consumers.
This is why, earlier this year, we reformulated our corporate Purpose as follows: “To Empower Our Customers to Create a World Where Every Sip Brings Joy.”
This simple phrase seeks to define why Finlays exists as a business. “A World where every sip brings joy” speaks to what we are trying to create – a world where the delights of tea, coffee and botanicals are enjoyed by as many people as possible. It also speaks to our commitment to nurturing growing communities and to source ingredients sustainably.
“To Empower Our Customers” is the specific role Finlays plays in the industry as a B2B supplier. This speaks to how we form strong and long partnerships with our customers, leveraging our centuries of beverage experience, and empowering them to delight their consumers.
